Chocolate Smartie Cookies

These are just the best party cookies ever..I bake them all the time, I take them everywhere I go, they're always in the house for when the kids have friends over and they are a part of every Bake Sale I take part in...and of course, they are rather yum! This is a fun recipe to make with kids....moreso the smarties part!

125g dark chocolate
125g butter
275g sugar
2 large eggs
200g plain flour
25g unsweetened cocoa
1tsp vanilla
1tsp baking soda
smarties galore

Preheat oven to 170°C. In a bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together over a pan of hot water. Leave to cool for about an hour...this part is important, otherwise you end up with a huge choccie smartie cookie which has oozed all over your baking tray (also yum!)
When cool, add eggs, sugar and vanilla and beat together until well mixed. Fold in flour, cocoa and salt.
Line a baking tray with baking paper and drop tbsp of the mixture onto the sheet, or slightly roll together and press onto baking paper. leave a gap between the cookies as they do spread.
now the best part....just stick on as many smarties as you deem acceptable onto each cookies, (I do 4 or 5) and bake for 9-10 mins. They should be slightly puffed up when you take them out of the oven, then leave them to cool....if you can! I have burnt my mouth many a time on these fresh out of the oven because as everyone knows, that's when they all taste best.

Enjoy!
